Work
In the wake of COVID, I co-founded Bridge4Good, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit facilitating donations to homeless shelters and food banks. In the following two years, we raised over $10,000 for our partner charities and ran webinars on topics ranging from Artificial Intelligence to Networking and Entrepreneurship. We’re now working on a partnership with Harvard Square’s Youth Shelter, Y2Y, to provide tech and career-oriented workshops to guests.
I interned at the Lightsmith Group, a private equity firm investing in climate adaptation and resilience solutions. I built a data mining tool to automate research into potential investments, and analyzed Small-to-Medium Enterprises working on adapting to climate impacts (with a strong focus on agtech). I then honed my analysis to assist in drafting a market study on the climate adaptation landscape in the Asia-Pacific region.
I developed my programming experience at FERMATA Discovery, a data mining startup automating workflows for private investigators. I tested an early version of FERMATA’s REST API and researched pricing strategies for their product.
Research
I’m currently working on a team with Dr. Jackie Matthes at the Harvard Forest to analyze the impact of Eastern Hemlock decline on understory microclimate in Hemlock stands. I’m performing data visualization and regression analysis in R.
I worked with Dr.s Ángel Muñoz and Carmen Gonzalez Romero at Columbia University to develop a Python interface visualizing the regional prevalence of child undernutrition in Guatemala (based on data from SESAN, the Guatemalan Secretariat of Food Security and Nutrition).
I participated in the Summer STEM Institute summer program where I conducted research classifying crop-types from satellite imagery. My work was awarded “Top Ten Research Paper” and “Top Ten Research Presentation” awards. The paper is available online.
Additional Projects
I’m currently working with a team based at the Harvard Graduate School of Design on estimating the operational and embodied (also known as “life cycle”) carbon footprint of construction projects.
My final project for Harvard’s Intro to Computer Science class was a content aggregator in Python for climate and environment enthusiasts. EnviroHub contains the latest relevant news and weather/air quality forecasts with customizable search queries.
